MRED President/CEO Named an Inman Influencer for 2017

RJMidwest Real Estate Data (MRED) President/Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Jensen is one of 150 individuals named to Inman’s Real Estate Influencers of 2017.

Jensen joined MRED as its President and CEO in March 2015. MRED provides multiple listing services to more than 8,000 real estate offices and 40,000 brokers and appraisers in the Chicago area. It provides property information about northwest Indiana, southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

She served as a board member for the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO), including several years as board chair. RESO created the first real estate data dictionary, web API standard and compliance programs. In 2014, the National Association of REALTORS® approved a policy that required multiple listing services to adopt RESO’s standards. Prior to working at MRED, Jensen was CEO for UtahRealEstate.com for nearly eight years.

Inman publisher Brad Inman says the list of influencers includes real estate professionals with a variety of talents, opinions and personalities.

“They are not (all) cut from the same cloth, they do not speak the same language and they do not always necessarily share the same values. But they influence the industry by their work, through their followers and by expressing their opinions,” Inman says.

Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) Joins Select Group with Latest RESO Certification

Chicagoland MLS Giant is now Certified at the
Gold Level for RESO’s Web API

RJLISLE, ILLINOIS (September 28, 2016) – Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED), Chicagoland’s multiple listing service (MLS), announced that it has received the Gold Certification for the Real Estate Standard Organization (RESO) Web API (Application Programming Interface).

In computer programming, an application programming interface (API) is a set of subroutine definitions, protocols, and tools for building software and applications. This API will be used as the go-between for the apps and websites that use MRED data.  By implementing the API, MRED’s subscribers apps and websites will be returning “real-time” listing information. Gold Level Certification enables MRED to provide more features and functions that allow technology partners to deliver greater innovation in applications utilized by MRED’s subscribers versus Core Level Certification.

“MRED’s penchant for innovation continues with its implementation of the latest real estate industry standards,” said Jeremy Crawford, Executive Director of RESO. “MRED helps to raise the bar for the entire MLS industry with their Gold Level Certification for the RESO Web API Server.  Their proven and steadfast commitment to RESO standards demonstrates their leadership in helping our industry embrace more innovation to make it remarkably more efficient. The example MRED sets with their forward-thinking is something we hope every MLS emulates.”

“MRED has made a huge commitment to RESO and fully support the great work it is doing,” said MRED President and Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Jensen.  “It was very important to us to attain the Gold Certification.  We will continue our work, in conjunction with RESO and others across the industry, to establish data standards consistent with the best interests of our brokerages and the real estate industry.”

MRED Continues to Meet the Standards

Chicagoland MLS Giant Now Certified on latest version of RESO Data Dictionary

LISLE, ILLINOIS (APRIL 13, 2015) – Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED), Chicagoland’s multiple listing service (MLS), has announced that the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) has certified MRED for RESO Data Dictionary 1.3.

RESO is an organization that develops, adopts and implements open and accepted data standards and processes across all real estate transactions and provide an environment for the development and implementation of data standards and processes. RESO’s Data Dictionary serves as the real estate industry’s “Rosetta Stone” for real estate data. While hundreds of MLSs and other source providers gather data, the Data Dictionary ensures that each system “speaks” the same language.

As MLSs across the industry adopt RESO standards, the industry will move towards an environment where real estate software becomes plug-and-play. Realtors® will be able to purchase off the shelf software and it will plug into any MLS that has implemented RESO standards.

This is quite different than the state of the industry today, where it is extremely hard for new software to be used from one market to the next. It will be easier for real estate professionals to use MLS data in the products that they choose. They will have better options and the data that flows through their systems will be more accurate because the Data Dictionary negates the need for translation from one system to the next. RESO standards give more options and control to Realtors®.

MRED’s commitment to RESO is evidenced by being its first Charter Member and its continued participation in and support of data standardization efforts. These efforts are important to MRED customers, the real estate industry in general, and the consumer. MRED and other organizations that maintain these standards can more easily exchange information without degrading or losing data, resulting in more accuracy and less cost. New applications and services are developed because there is a wider audience to offer them to.

dynaConnections, MRED’s MLS vendor, also has a strong commitment to RESO. As another Charter Member of the organization, dynaConnections dedicates significant resources and time to remain on the front line of RESO initiatives. Technologists from both MRED and dynaConnections have worked closely to attain not only the Data Dictionary 1.3 certification but also to maintain MRED’s Real Estate Transaction Standard (RETS) Server certification.

“We’re proud supporters of RESO and firm believers in the long-term power in its mission,” said dynaConnections CEO, Tim Ford. “The organization is making great strides towards bettering the industry, and we’re happy to contribute in any way possible”.

“I have a deep commitment to RESO, having served as its Board Chair for four years,” said MRED President and CEO Rebecca Jensen. “RESO is important to me and to MRED. We will continue to support the setting of standards, and the providing of data and tools needed to meet the demands of real estate professionals and consumers alike.”

MRED Staying Plugged In

MLS Giant Well-Represented at RESO Plugfest and
Fall Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada

LISLE, ILLINOIS (October 21, 2014) – Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED), Chicagoland’s multiple listing service (MLS), is attending the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) Plugfest and Fall Conference October 21 – 23, 2014 at the Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

RESO is a group of real estate organizations working together to develop and implement data standards and processes that support innovation, ensure portability, eliminate redundancies and obtain maximum efficiencies for all parties participating in the real estate transaction. RESO’s ultimate goal is a fully automated real estate transaction facilitated by data standards and processes accepted by real estate professionals everywhere.

The Real Estate Transaction Standard (RETS) is a common language spoken by systems handling real estate information such as multiple listing services (MLSs). Most of RESO’s work currently involves RETS and data definitions to be utilized within RETS. Standardization of data fields and ease of portability of data are of the highest priority to MRED and other MLSs for efficiency of data delivery and the minimizing of expense related to these activities.

This year, for the first time, RESO is hosting a Plugfest the first day. A “Plugfest” is an event where software developers gather to test the interoperability of their products, designs or concepts with others, and meet and collaborate on solving common technological issues facing their particular community or industry. Working together on this level promises to result in great innovation and special new ideas and initiatives that benefit the real estate industry.

MRED’s Director of Special Projects, Chris Lambrou, and Network Services Manager, Richard Torp, are in attendance at the Plugfest as well as the Fall Conference.

“MRED is very committed to RESO and its work, as evidenced by our being its first Charter Member and our sustained and continuing participation,” said Jeff Gregory, MRED Chairman of the Board. “It is very important for us to attend and participate in RESO events, to stay abreast of all of the progress RESO and its member organizations are making in creating the most streamlined and efficient real estate transaction.”
